Masterful Mindsets ~ Commit to Clarity and Focus
“Focus. Otherwise you will find life becomes a blur.” – Anonymous
If you wear glasses, then you know how much easier life is when you have them on. Why? Because you have clarity and focus. Likewise, when you have clarity and focus about life, it makes having a happy, successful life much easier too.
But I get it, life happens, you get busy and before you know it, life becomes a blur. With the new decade upon us, it can be easy to scratch your head and wonder where the last 10 years went. And then your vision for your desired future can become a struggle to see, especially if you have a difficult time staying focused on taking decisive actions toward achieving your goals. So if you’re ready to admit that you might need some help getting clarity about the life you truly want to create and refocusing your efforts to get there so you can make this your best year ever, then it’s time to commit to clarity and focus…
I don’t like to admit that I need “readers” to see most text these days. It’s especially necessary to have them on after I’ve been staring ahead at a distance for too long or looking at my computer screen for extended periods. Or when my eyes are tired. Or the room lighting is dim. Or the font is too small. Or my arm isn’t long enough. Or… well, alright – I admit it! I pretty much need reading glasses all the time these days!
The silly thing is, when I finally decide to quit fighting myself (and my ego) and just put the f’ing glasses on… it’s always such a huge relief. Everything comes into focus and becomes easy to see. At that point, I inevitably catch myself saying, “Ah, that’s better.” And I am reminded once again that I should have just put them on in the first place, instead of wasting so much time and energy struggling.
My most recent “readers” denial and the fact that this year is “2020”, made me decide that this is a great year to commit to clarity and focus. (Get it? 20/20 is perfect vision. – Perfect right?) Anyway, I realize it can be hard to admit when you struggle with clarity and focus in your life. However, if you want to be highly productive each day and reach your goals so you can inevitably create the life you desire, you’ve got to be very clear on what you want and focus intently each day on the action steps required to get it.
Interestingly enough, many people struggle with clarity and focus. To have clarity about what you really want in life can be scary. After all, once you get completely clear then you either need to do something about it or live miserably with the regret of not going after what you really want. And if you do go after it… Yikes! You could fail. But, then again, you could also succeed… And you will most certainly succeed much easier if you have complete clarity about what you want.
Then there’s focus. Once you are clear about what you want, you must commit to focusing on those goals each and every day. Working to take action one step at a time to bring you closer and closer to achieving your goals. But if you aren’t able to keep focused on the tasks at hand every day, then you can find yourself not only distracted by just about anything (emails, texts, social media, co-workers, children, anything!) but also way off track.
However, having clarity and focus doesn’t have to be a struggle…
Pay attention to how often you use excuses for why you don’t have clarity and focus. If you’re like most people, it’s highly likely that you’ve let the vision of your hopes and dreams become blurred by your self-limiting beliefs and fears for far too long. No more denial about being too busy or too tired. No more letting your ego convince you that you don’t need help or you can’t ask for help. If the light has dimmed on your dreams or they just feel out of your reach, it’s time to quit struggling and “put the readers on”. In other words, ask for assistance. Get the tools and support you need from a coach or mentor who can help you clearly see what’s blocking your vision for your future and guide you to refocus on achieving success. Once you get clarity about what your true vision is right now for your life and where you want to go next, you can create a plan to put actionable steps into place and eliminate distractions to stay focused on accomplishing the necessary tasks to move you forward each and every day. Trust me; when you quiet your ego and “put on the readers”, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. 😊
