Masterful Mindsets ~ Give Thanks Daily
“If the only prayer you say in your life is thank you, that would suffice.” ~Meister Eckhart
Thanksgiving is always a time when we are reminded to be thankful for the blessings in our lives, so I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to begin this week’s Masterful Mindset by telling you how truly grateful I am that you have chosen to allow me to be a part of your life. I value you as part of my community and am so thankful that we are connected.
Now, on to this week’s thoughts:
Recently I hosted an online event and I shared some of the key concepts I live by that have helped me create a life I can celebrate every day. If you attended that event then you know that one of those concepts is to live with gratitude and hope.
So, this week’s quote is something that I often refer to in my own life because there are so many times when I am overflowing with how blessed I am, that prayers of gratitude are literally the only prayers I need to make. And likewise, there are some times when I’m overwhelmed with hardships and worries so staying in gratitude for what I do have is the best prayer I can make.
In both cases, and truly every day in between… I pray words of thanks for all that I have been given and all that is yet to come to me.
Many years ago, I vowed to live my life focusing on what I have to be thankful for rather then what I lack – and I can tell you that it has made a huge difference in my life. There is no doubt in my mind that if you look to all you have to be grateful for, you will live a much more positive, happy and hopeful life. Not only that, but you will most likely continue to receive more to be grateful for. After all, it is what you focus on, that expands.
Think about that for a minute and reflect on your day to day life…
- Do you focus on what you have to be thankful for or do you focus more on what you don’t have?
- Do you focus on worry and negativity or do you focus on hope and positivity?
- Do you have a daily gratitude practice? (i.e. gratitude journal, mindfulness, meditation, prayer)
- Do you regularly thank those you love and value for being in your life?
You can’t just be thankful on Thanksgiving. It’s in doing it as a daily practice that you’ll see the benefits in your life. So, if you don’t like the answers to the questions above, then please let today be the day that you make a conscious decision that you will practice gratitude each and every day of your life. Focus on what you have to be grateful for rather than the things you lack and be open to the blessings that are available to you. Then trust and have hope in knowing that as sure as another holiday will come, so too will the blessings flow into your life. And that my dear friend, is surly something to be thankful for.
