what joy feels like and it just might inspire
them to do the same.

Question:

How do you maintain holiday happiness and bring holiday joy to others?

Action Challenge:

We are all in full holiday mode – no matter what holiday it is that you celebrate. So today I want to share with you how to have a happy holiday and bring holiday joy to others using five high performance (holiday) tips to survive the holidays in a positive way.

Clarity – Be clear about what is most important to you this holiday season. And set your intention for how you want to show up. (i.e. bringing happiness and joy to others, being charitable, kind, etc.) It’s easy to be stressed out, overwhelmed, grumpy or angry during the holidays. But make a choice to get clear about how you want your holidays to be and how you want to show up this holiday season and then remind yourself of the words/intentions you choose throughout the holiday season so that you are showing up how you want to this holiday.

Energy – There are a lot of extra tasks and events during the holiday season. (Shopping, baking, parties, etc.) It’s a busy time of year and it requires extra energy to get it all done. So in order to have high energy, you need to make sure you’re taking care of yourself. Which means, exercise regularly and eat healthy. Don’t let the holidays be an excuse to splurge on unhealthy foods and too much alcohol. Maintain your health during the holidays and it will help you have the energy you need to get all those extra tasks done.

Courage – It can take a lot of courage to admit you are struggling during the holidays. And it can take a lot of courage to speak up for yourself if you are around people you don’t get along with well. It can also take courage to ask for help or support. So don’t be afraid to have courage this holiday season. Ask for help if you need it, whether it’s because you are struggling emotionally or you need help getting things done. Confidently take bold actions to stand up and honor yourself this holiday season.

Productivity – As I already mentioned, there are a lot of extra tasks and events during the holidays. It can become very time consuming. So make sure that you have a plan, you are well organized, and you delegate tasks wherever you can. Schedule your tasks if possible so you can be focused and on task, which will make it easier to get things done so you can really enjoy the holidays when it’s time. But be careful not to over-commit. Know what you can do and let go of the things you can’t. This actually goes back to clarity – knowing how you want to show up and what’s important to you will help you keep your focus, making it easier to be clear on what matters and what you can let go of.

Influence – Being pleasant and being a role model to others is always important but during holidays you see people you don’t see regularly, which makes it all the more important. (Cousin Eddy from Christmas Vacation might just show up on your doorstep.) So remember again, as you’re deciding how you want to show up this holiday season, that you are a role model for others. And how you show up can influence other people as to how they are going to show up. So challenge yourself to have meaningful conversations with others. Even the clerk at the store can use some kindness and a nice conversation. Be cheerful and inspire people.

My challenge for you this holiday season is to bring the joy! Follow these five high performance holiday tips and bring the joy to others.
