Question: 

How often do you freeze up and not go after your goals or dreams because they seem too overwhelming? How often do you feel like you can’t possibly do it or it’s going to be too hard so you just don’t even try?

Action Challenge: 

This week we are moving on to the second fear pain in our series of three, “Process Pain”.

Quite honestly, the thing that holds people back so often from going after their dreams or goals is this fear that the process is going to be too hard. That they might not know how to do it or it’s going to be a struggle… So they just decide to stay where they are.

If you can relate to that, then I have good news for you. Today I’ll share some tips on how to overcome and move past that process pain you’re feeling (and the fear of that pain), in order to go after your dreams and achieve your goals.

Tip #1: Honor the Struggle – Sure, it might be hard. But that’s okay. Because think about this… where you are right now probably doesn’t feel good either. So even if there’s some struggle in going after that dream that you really want to achieve or making that transformational change in your life that you really want to have, it’s alright. You’re already feeling the pain anyway because you’re not happy where you’re at, so honor the struggle and go after it.

Tip #2: Break it Down – Part of process pain is that we get overwhelmed when we think about the big task at hand, or the big goal that we have. So if you can break down your vision into manageable action steps, then you can take each step one action at a time. Taking those steps and breaking them down so they are more manageable will make it much easier and a lot less overwhelming, so you’ll be more likely to keep moving with your goal.

Tip #3: Trust in Yourself – So often part of the process pain is not knowing how to do something or not believing you can do it. You absolutely can do this and you don’t have to know exactly how to do everything. You just need to trust in your ability to figure it out.

If you can follow these three tips when you start to get wrapped up in process pain, you can then move past it to achieve your goals and reach your dreams!

My challenge for you this week is to take that big vision or dream that you have and follow those three tips: Honor the Struggle, knowing that what you’re doing now doesn’t feel great anyway so you might as well go after that dream. Break it Down and make things into manageable steps so that you don’t get overwhelmed. And Trust in Yourself, by believing in your ability to figure it out and get things done.
