Masterful Mindsets – Season for Everything
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” ~ Ecclesiastes, Chapter 3, Verse 1
Question:
What season are you in, within your own life? Is it a season of change? If so, what is that change you seek? And if there truly is a time for every purpose under heaven, then what is your purpose? Have you found it? Are you ready to make the changes necessary to fulfill that purpose?
Action Challenge:
There’s an old song from the 60’s by a band called The Byrds, and the name of the song is Turn, Turn, Turn (To Everything There is a Season). It is written with reference to chapter 3 in Ecclesiastes.
As the song unfolds around that sacred list of seasons and important moments of our lives, it is a strong reminder that some times are happy and others are sad; some are productive – some are not; some inspire peace and yet others bring pain.
The important thing to know is… all are necessary for each of us to learn, grow and evolve into the person we are intended to be. The things that happen in life are not by accident. And if you look closely enough, you can see within each experience a divine purpose (a gift, if you will) that you can trust and learn from.
Each season of your life – every major experience, every transition – requires your conscious awareness in order to come out on the other side in a positive way. Look for the gift of each season and be open to receiving it. Of course, some are easier to see and accept. The happy times, the fruitful times – it’s easy to see the gifts in those times. But even in the sad times, the mournful times – there can be a gift. You must just look for it. And when you do – it becomes clear. And when it is clear, that is when change occurs. That is when you can let go of the old season and step fully into blooming in the new season of your life.
As sure as there are the changing of the seasons each year from winter to spring, spring to summer, summer to fall and around again – you can rest assured that life is most definitely a continuing series of changing seasons as well. So embrace this season you are in. Find the gifts. And look forward to the changes that are to come. Accept the process and go with it. There’s really no stopping it anyway.
My challenge to you is to step back in time and listen to the song. Or, go ahead and read the Chapter that inspired it. (below) Then meditate on it for a while. Determine what season you are in and if it is not where you want to be, then embrace the gifts of this season and let it go… Decide which season you are ready to change to. Get clear about your purpose and vow to embark on the journey towards that new season. Then get ready for the change that is coming. As the last line of the song says, “…I swear it’s not too late.”
Book of Ecclesiastes, Chapter 3, Verses 1-8:
“For everything there is a season, and
a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up
what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to
build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to throw away stones, and a
time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to
refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to
throw away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to
speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.”
