Masterful Mindset – Strength Grows Through Overcoming
“Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.” ~ Rikki Rogers
Question:
Have you ever felt that you didn’t have the strength to get through something that was occurring in your life? (Maybe you’re feeling that way right now.) Can you think of a time when you’ve felt your inner strength grow from overcoming adversity? How empowered and proud did that make you feel? (Don’t forget that feeling!)
Action Challenge:
We’ve all experienced challenges in our lives when we just didn’t think we would possibly have the strength to get through, and yet we did. As I write this, I can certainly think of several in my life. And if you really think about it… you’ll probably recall times when you’ve overcome an obstacle or achieved a goal you weren’t sure you could actually reach. Strength comes from those moments when you look fear in the eyes and declare to take action, in spite of the risk or the struggle. Strength shines through in the moments you feel you’ve reached your breaking point and can’t possibly go on, but you go on anyway.
Your strength – your true inner strength – is always there. Always waiting to be called upon. And guess what? It’s probably stronger than you realize. So call on it – every time – call on it when you are feeling scared, overwhelmed, lonely, exhausted, hopeless, whatever – call on it – it’s there. And that strength that you find when you do overcome whatever challenges or difficulties you are facing… that strength continues to grow.
Is there something you aren’t sure you can overcome? Or a goal you don’t think you’ll ever reach? Call on your inner strength today. Dig deep… let it help you through whatever you might be thinking you can’t do. Take a deep breath and trust that you really do have the strength to overcome whatever it is you are feeling today, that is holding you back from being your best true you.
My challenge to you this week is to tap into your inner strength. (Remember that empowered feeling from times before when you have overcome.) Know what your strength looks, feels and acts like for you. And know what you need to do to ignite that fire within to grow that strength again. It may be speaking empowering words to yourself. (See my blog post on Speaking to Yourself with Love for more on this.) It may be in taking a risk, stepping out of your comfort zone and stepping up boldly into action. Sometimes the greatest strength comes in admitting we need help. So, ask for help if you need it. Whatever the case, activate your inner strength and use it often because inner strength, just like physical strength becomes stronger the more you use it.
If there is something going on in your life right now that you need strength to get through, then it’s time to call upon your inner strength to reach that place that you currently believe you can’t reach. Breathe deeply, ground yourself and speak courageously to yourself. Let your inner strength carry you farther than you thought you could go.
Here’s to finding the strength that you never knew you had. It’s there – call on it. Then watch it grow stronger.
