Masterful Mindsets – Transform is a Verb

Question:

What transformational changes have you been wanting to make? Have you been wanting to make them for a while? Are you waiting for the right time to make those changes in your life? What are you waiting for?

Action Challenge: 

I hear people say it all the time:

“I’ll be happy when…”

“I’ll start as soon as…”

“I’ll change after I…”

“Tomorrow…next week…next year…”

Think about it, odds are, you are guilty of saying some version of one of the above too.

When I hear people make these claims, I usually have alarms going off in my head because I know that for most people, that type of “reasoning” is just an excuse not to ever begin. It’s a sure sign that they are afraid to really commit to making a change. They’re afraid to take action so they keep putting their transformation off into the future.

And I totally get it, after all, transformation and change take effort. It requires stepping out of your comfort zone to take action towards your desired transformation. And although it isn’t always easy, it isn’t always hard either. Interestingly enough, it’s our own resistance to change that usually makes it hard. (But that’s a blog post for another day.)

So here’s the deal… The word “Transform” is a VERB! And a verb means action… Transformation requires action. And the truth is, transformational change will never happen if you keep putting it off into the future. You can talk about it all you want, you can plan and prepare, but until you actually start taking action, nothing will change. Now don’t get me wrong, talking about your desires and dreams is a good place to start. And having a good plan is a great idea.  Those are actually both activities you can begin right now that can set you out on the road to change. But they will only take you so far. Then you must quit planning for change as a future event and start taking deliberate, decisive action in the present moment.

My challenge to you is to pick one transformation that you have only been talking about as a future event, up to this point in your life. Get out your plan for that change, or if you don’t have one, then begin with creating a plan to move forward with that change. Then take action TODAY. Even if it’s a small action – start today and give it your full effort – then tomorrow take another action. And the next day, and the next, and… you get the idea. Commit to making an effort to take action towards your desired transformation, every single day. That’s how transformational change occurs.

The time for change is now!
