Masterful Mindsets ~ Write Your Own Agreements

“Just imagine becoming the way you used to be as a very young child, before you understood the meaning of any word, before opinions took over your mind. The real you is loving, joyful, and free. The real you is just like a flower, just like the wind, just like the ocean, just like the sun.” ~ Don Miguel Ruiz

Question:

Are you free to be who you really are? What would happen if you broke free from the old limiting beliefs (aka the old agreements) that have been holding you captive from being your best true you? Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be loving, joyful and free? What new agreement would you like to make with yourself that would free you from being stuck where you are and instead allow you to be the real you?

Action Challenge:

We all grow up learning certain “agreements” through our family of origin. Don’t get me wrong, some are good virtues and values. But some, are not so good. They are the messages that create the limiting beliefs which can hold you captive from being your best true you.

Sadly, some people spend their entire lifetime trying to break free of them. As a matter of fact… I spend quite a lot of time with many of my private clients, helping them overcome and rewrite their old life story into something new and freeing. It’s in rewriting that story and no longer allowing the agreements of your past to control you, that you are free to create a new future. Otherwise, you’ll likely end up just repeating the past. Staying stuck in it.

Which I guess is why I love the fact that following Don Miguel Ruiz’s four simple fundamental truths can be a complete game changer when it comes to mastering your life; as they truly help you break free from so many old patterns that may be keeping you stuck.  But of course, you don’t have to just follow his agreements…

My challenge to you as we come to the end of our short study of The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz, is to continue to make those four agreements a daily practice and then add to them! Start small, write just one principal you want to live by and then stick to it until it becomes a regular part of your life. Just like rewriting your life story can help you see your past in a different light, rewriting the agreements or self-limiting beliefs that were created in your family of origin can transform your future.
